AA Rosettes 2019

In 2018 we were awarded two AA Rosettes which were given to us based on numerous visits from the AA’s Restaurant Inspectors. ‘For AA inspectors, the top and bottom line is the food. The taste of a dish is what counts, and whether it successfully delivers to the diner the promise of the menu.’ 2 AA Rosettes are awarded to the best local restaurants that aim for and achieve higher standards with better consistency and obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients when compared to other restaurants achieving standards that standout in their local area. We are very proud of this achievement and have been told that numerous more visits will happen over the coming years. We will continue to strive and hope to achieve 3 Rosettes in the future.

Michelin Guide 2019

In Autumn, Harborne Kitchen was awarded with a Michelin Plate and a spot in the Michelin Guide 2019. “A restaurant in the Recommended selection is the sign of a chef using quality ingredients that are well cooked; simply a good meal,” says Michael Ellis, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide books. “It means that the inspectors have found the food to be above average…” In order for us to obtain this award, anonymous inspectors assessed the restaurant over the course of the last two year based on five criteria: quality of the ingredients used, mastery of flavour and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in his cuisine, value for money and consistency between visits. This is an amazing achievement for the entire team past and present and we are incredibly proud! This has encouraged us to continue to strive to produce great quality food in a relaxed and comfortable environment for our local guests and beyond.

Good Food Guide Midlands Best Local Restaurant 2019

We are always incredibly proud to represent the Midlands! Back in 2017, you were asked to nominate you favourite local restaurants, places that gave you a warm welcome and share a passion for local produce as well as commitment to the community. You chose us! Following our nomination, we were anonymously visited by the Good Food Guide Judges and they assessed us against their criteria. We are over the moon to announce that Harborne Kitchen had won the Award for the Best Local Restaurant in the Midlands! We would like to thank our guests for thinking of us and putting our name forward for this award and our team for working incredibly hard behind the scenes to make Harborne Kitchen a ‘local’ for everyone that walks in.

Good Food Guide 2019

Alongside being awarded The Good Food Guide’s Award for the Best Local Restaurant in the Midlands, we were featured in the 2018 Good Food Guide with a score of 6! Simply being awarded an entry is a huge achievement. Our score of 6 means that the Good Food Guide Judges believe we deliver exemplary cooking skills, innovative ideas, impeccable ingredients and an element of excitement. More than 1,200 restaurants have been scored by The Good Food Guide, Their inspectors are equipped with extensive scoring guidelines to ensure that bench-marking around the UK is accurate. It’s safe to say we are absolutely chuffed! A big thank you and congratulations to our entire team who are continually striving to achieve and pushing themselves.

Harden’s Guide 2019

For the second year we have been awarded a place in the Harden’s Guide! We were awarded a 5 (Excellent) for our Food and 4 (Very Good) for both our Service and Ambience. This score was given to us alongside this cracking summary by the guide “Fabulous, fun and inventive” meals appear from the “open-to-view kitchen”at Jamie Desogus’s two-year-old in a former butcher’s shop in a residential area. “It’s run by a young but knowledgeable team whose enthusiasm is infectious” – and their ambition is clear in the multi-course tasting menus on offer, including an ‘express’ lunch consisting of a mere five courses, plus bread and snacks.’

BBC Winter Good Food Show

In December at the BBC Winter Good Food Show, Chef Jamie Desogus & Junior Sous Chef Michael Topping took to the Good Food Stage and brought a little bit of Harborne Kitchen to the NEC. Our boys showcased one of our current dishes on the Chosen Menu, the Glitne Halibut with foraged sea vegetables, fresh grapefruits & langoustine bisque. They gave the crowd a whistle stop tour of how we use ingredients at Harborne Kitchen and where we source our ingredients from. We will be uploading the video and recipe for our Glitne Halibut dish to our website soon in case you missed it - be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
